Omaan tutkimusalaan tutustuminen, tiedonhankinta, tutkimusprosessin vaiheisiin tutustuminen, hyvä tieteellinen käytäntö, tieteellinen argumentointi. Lisäksi pro gradu -tutkielman tutkimussuunnitelman, alustavan disposition sekä omaan aiheeseen liittyvän kirjallisuusluettelon laatiminen, seminaarityön kirjoittaminen ja seminaariesitelmän pitäminen, toisen opiskelijan työn opponointi sekä osallistuminen maisterivaiheen HOPS-ohjaukseen. Tavoitteena on laatia pro gradu -tutkielma maisteriseminaarin aikana.
