This course unit introduces and explores:

  • the ways in which law is taught and studied at Tampere University
  • the importance of the legal system in societal decision-making
  • law as a guiding force for governmental bodies, companies, and individuals
  • the Finnish legal system, its structure and systematics, and the associated central concepts
  • the Finnish legal system’s relations with international and EU law
  • the study of law and the different ways to approach law from the perspective of science
  • the different branches of law and their relations to each other
  • the basic premises of solving legal problems: sources of law and their study
  • the main characteristics and central concepts of business, tax, and public law.
