Core content
  • Basic concepts and specialities related to the physiological measurements and biomedical engineering
  • Measuring scales, SI system, basic terminology of  measurement technology and metrology, measurement standards, the structure of a measurement system.
  • Measurement uncertainty, calibration, metrological traceability, and legal verification.
  • Static and dynamic performance of a measurement system, measurement error, frequency response.
  • Sensor for most common quantities (e.g displacement, temperature, pressure, acceleration, force) and their physical principles
  • Use of multimeter and oscilloscope
  • Generation of measurement signals, difference between analog and digital signal, AD conversion, Nyquist's sampling theorem, noise, interferences, measurement cards
  • Basic use of numerical data analysis software, basics of data analysis (e.g. linear regerssion)

  • Develpment of measurement standards
  • Siginifcance of calibration, metrological traceability, legal verification and measurement uncertainty analysis
  • Link between frequency and time domain presentations
