Core content
  • Description of motion, formulations of Lagrange and Euler.
  • Strain measures: deformation gradient and the mostly used strain tensors.
  • The concept of stress and the most common stress measures like Cauchy, Piola and Piola-Kirchhoff stress tensors.
  • Balance equations: energy balance, balance of linear momentum, balance of moment of momentum, entropy inequality. The principle of virtual work.
  • Constitutive models: hyperelasticity, visco-elastic models.
