Fashion and Gender, Online teaching
The course will familiarize students with fashion as gendered and embodied phenomenon and how gender and other related identity categories are inscribed in and communicated through clothing. Students will learn about gender as culturally constructed and historically changing phenomenon and fashion as ‘technology of gender’. Students will discuss on-line pre-assigned texts, analyze visual materials and explore ways of challenging gender normativity. Themes include fashion and gender; queer fashion; fashion and age; fashion and ethnicity; fashion and racism; fashion and size; fashion and the digital self. Applications by 20.9.2019 here.
