The module builds a foundation for anthropological thinking and presents an overview of the intellectual history of anthropology. In the module, students learn how to pose anthropological questions, such as ‘Which characteristics of the human species are universal which are culturally diversified?’, ‘What do anthropologists study in today’s global world?’, ‘What kind of roles do anthropologists work in?’ These and other questions are discussed through the lenses of economy, politics, the relationship between humans and the environment, health, religion and intimate relations in different parts of the world.
