Opintojaksolla perehdytään antiikintutkimuksen, keskiajantutkimuksen ja/tai uuden ajan alun tutkimuksen menetelmiin. Opiskelija valitsee itse kiinnostuksensa mukaan opintojakson, jonka haluaa tähän kohtaan sisällyttää eri tutkinto-ohjelmien tarjoamista opintojaksoista ja niiden toteutuksista. Mahdollisia kursseja tähän voivat olla esimerkiksi seuraavat: Antiikintutkimuksen lähteet ja metodit; Keskiajantutkimuksen lähteet ja metodit; Uuden ajan alun tutkimuksen lähteet ja metodit. Korvaavuuksista sovitaan opintokokonaisuuden vastuuhenkilön kanssa.
