In the course, the student becomes familiar with the main traditions in Finnish and Western educational thinking and their significance for the construction of contemporary education and educational institutions. The course examines societal changes and ideologies in educational thinking and the history of education, as well as the special nature of education as a foundation for the ability to act ethically.
The scientific frame of the course is te history of education and the philosophy of education.
