International outlook and global responsibility

This course focuses on the methods used in the study of language variation and change. The methods of Labovian sociolinguistics, which form the backbone of most variationist approaches, will be discussed in some detail during the course. We will examine how these methods can be applied to the analysis of a range of research questions in different corpora, such as the Spoken BNC2014 and International Corpus of English –family of corpora.
