Opiskelija johdatetaan tarkastelemaan vuorovaikutusta teoreettisesta näkökulmasta. Kurssilla perehdytään siihen, miksi teoriaa ylipäätään tarvitaan ja pohditaan, millaisiin teoriaperinteisiin viestinnän tutkimus nojautuu. Kurssilla käsitellään vuorovaikutuksen keskeisiä käsitteitä ja teorioita. Viestintätilanteiden havainnointi ja analyysi kirjallisuuden avulla.
