The course will familiarise the student with analysing sentence structures. The range of grammatical structures covered includes, for example, the following: modal verbs, verb complementation, active vs. passive clauses, particle verbs, and inversions. The course unit will also familiarise the student with analysing language structures using authentic texts from corpus data.


The student will explore the basic concepts of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics, as well as their application to English through practical exercises. Reading materials covering these subjects will be provided during the course.
