The aim of this course is to present and overview of the nation building and contemporary political developments in Ukraine. Students will learn about various aspects of national identity, nationalism, politics and civil society in Ukraine. The course covers the key political and cultural events in Ukraine from Perestroika to present day with their analysis and discussion. Relevant academic literature will be provided to students for each lecture topic. Besides lectures, the in-class work will also include group assignments and discussions with the aim to activate and strengthen critical and analytical thinking.
