This course deals with when, how, and why to mix qualitative and quantitative methods within one research design. The first part of the workshop covers theoretical assumptions of and justifications for mixed methods research. The second part deals with types of mixed methods designs and illustrative examples. The third part will deal with special applications of mixed methods designs, new developments, and publication strategies. The workshop will include lectures, exercises, readings, and a homework assignment. Participants are encouraged to work on their own mixed methods projects during the exercises. A limited number of consultation sessions are available as part of this workshop.
