Academic calendar

The academic year at Tampere University is divided into two semesters consisting of two periods each.

• There are seven weeks in each teaching period + 1-2 weeks at the end of the period, when there is not arranged contact teaching (with the exception of the 4th teaching period).
• 1. period, in week 42: contact teaching is not arranged, when the elementary schools have autumn vacation.
• 3. period, in week 9: contact teaching is not arranged, while the elementary schools have a winter holiday.
• 4. period, during the period, a week-long Easter holiday (from Wednesday to Tuesday): contact teaching is not arranged.
• 4. period end at 31th of May. Centralized exams are organized in the eighth and ninth teaching weeks of the 4th teaching period.
• Summer teaching can start after the examination weeks of the 4th period.
