MGE-Master' Degree Programme in Public Economics and Public Finance

Learning outcomes

The programme yields profound
1) theoretical and practical expertise on a selected field of Public Economics and Public Finance, and
2) competence in applying advanced economic theory and methods in investigating issues concerning Public Economics and Public Finance.

Content

The studies consist of the following, equally weighted categories:
I. Economic Theory and Methods (available in Finnish only)
II. Public Economics and Public Finance
III. Master’s Thesis (including seminar and maturity test)
IV. Optional studies

Prerequisites

At least 1/4 of the studies must be done under ERASMUS exchange in (one of) the partner universities. In particular, the Master’s Thesis should be written during the exchange period. A personal study plan is made for each student.

Bachelor's Degree (180 ECTS), which includes the studies mentioned above (50 ECTS). The selection of students is based on grades and interviews.

Further information

The programme is produced jointly with the University of Rennes 1 (France), the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and the University of Alessandria (Italy). The programme yields a Double Degree with two diplomas, one from the student’s home university and one from the relevant partner university. The programme gives eligibility to doctoral studies in all the partner universities.
