Content

The Public and Global Health Master's Degree Programme is an integrated programme in public and global health tailored to emphasize interdisciplinary studies in health sciences and social sciences.

The PGH programme comprises 120 ECTS and the duration is two academic years. The pogramme offers students the opportunity to gain a firm grounding in the core competencies of public and global health. The public health component corresponds to an MPH.

The effects of global phenomena affect wellbeing and health in both the global South and the global North, transforming the way we work for health both at national and international levels. Global health is not only about developing countries. Therefore, in our programme we offer a unique opportunity to study the intertwined disciplines of public and global health. Students will be equipped with the necessary expertise, skills and tools to work in the complex setting of contemporary and emerging health challenges. All courses are firmly grounded in evidence- based international research and have a strong focus on transferring this knowledge into practice. It is our mission to advocate for health and assure the conditions in which people can be healthy.

The integrated programme in public and global health is tailored to emphasize interdisciplinary studies in health sciences and social sciences. The students acquire a thorough grounding in all of the core disciplines of public health - epidemiology, health promotion, health-systems, and health economics. The wide range of courses offered enables students to gain expertise in their areas of interest. They will, for example, grow their expertise in global dynamics such as: inequalities, climate change, migration, ageing and conflicts.

Through studying in an international setting students will also develop a global network of contacts and gain experience of working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. Students will also learn to apply their knowledge and skills in practice through a mandatory work placement for three months and on courses which include real-world case projects. The aim is to equip the students with practical skills and tools for their future working life. They will also take advantage of small classes which are adapted to the needs and interests of students and have the opportunity to interact with an approachable faculty committed to engaging with students.
