School of Communication, Media and Theatre

The School of Communication, Media and Theatre includes the disciplines of Journalism and Mass Communication, Theatrical Arts, Speech Communication, and Theatre and Drama Research. These four have a common foundation in the research and building of presentations on the basis of real life, the public nature and practical aspect of the professions, and understanding of communication from the point of view of meanings: at pictures, words and stories.

The School of Communication, Media and Theatre also includes the Journalism Research and Development Centre, and the Centre for Practice as Research in Theatre.

The director of the School is PhD Heikki Hellman.

During the spring semester 2011, the curriculum and teaching schedule of the School of Communication, Media and Theatre will follow those of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Department of Acting, the Department of Speech Communication and Voice Research, the Department of Literature and the Arts (for Theatre and Drama Research) and of the ISSS:
