The aim of the course is that the students will - familiarize with discourses of education and schooling in different historical and cultural contexts, related to transforming struggles about economical and political hegemony - engage in contemporary idea-historical debates and research about meanings and functions of education

Course includes reflections on the development of the research field through key concepts and theoretical perspectives. The course offers insights to research in media education and media literacies.

Kurssilla valinnainen suomenkielisille opiskelijoille koulutuspäivä "Lasten oikeudet mediassa, lasten mediakulttuuri ja media-ammattilaisen vastuu" (korvaavuus sovitaan kurssin aloituksessa).
Koulutuspäivä tarjoaa perustietoa lasten mediakulttuurista, lasten oikeuksista mediassa ja media-alan mediakasvatusvastuusta. Päivän aikana opiskelija saa välineitä ja menetelmiä mediakasvatuksellisen otteen vahvistamiseksi. Samalla kentällä toimivat järjestöt ja toimijat tulevat tutuksi. Koulutuspäivä järjestetään Mediakasvatusseuran, Aikakausmedian, YLEn, Pelastakaa lapset ry:n ja Koordinaatti – Nuorten Tieto ja Neuvontakeskus yhteistyönä. Ei ilmoittautumista. The course includes viewpoints on the comparative research on the uses of media, global viewpoints to media and information literacies and education and intercultural global education.
