Content: The course focuses on educational studies with transnational perspectives exploring interconnections between education, international migration, and transnational ties of migrants. During the course, the students will examine previous studies concerning transnational learning, internationalization of education, student mobilities, and cross-border learning environments.

Content: The course draws attention to policies and practices related to the provision of education in developing countries by examining the relationship between education and social and economic development. The students will explore intricacies regarding policy formation and their subsequent implementation at local and regional level particularly in the developing world. The discussions will focus on impediments related to the realization of educational targets from basic literacy through language of instruction to employability of educational products.
Modes of Study: Lectures, an individual or pair presentation of an article, and a learning diary (for students at intermediate level) or an essay (for students at advanced level).

While understanding the theoretical aspects, the students will critique the existing policies related to multicultural education from a comparative perspective.

This course introduces the discipline and practice of qualitative research to course participants. Through the course, the students will acquire a broader awareness of varieties of qualitative inquiry. It also aims to provide students with adequate knowledge to critically explain the differences between qualitative inquiry and quantitative research. Students will understand that qualitative designs are naturalistic. The students will learn central features of Qualitative Research in order to consider the possibility of adopting qualitative strategies for educational research
Modes of Study: Lectures, group presentations of assigned material, and a learning diary (for students at intermediate level) or an essay (for students at advanced level).
Max. 20 students.
