Language and communication studies for international students
The language and communication studies which are part of the requirements for international degree students are normally defined separately, for example in the students’ personal study plans. The language courses suitable for international students (as opposed to courses taught in Finnish) can be found in the teaching programme of the Language Centre. This also gives the times and places of the courses. Enrolment is done electronically through the student NettiOpsu. The available places on courses are normally given to those students with the highest total number of credits, with priority given to degree students. On the date published in the teaching programme, you will be able to see whether you have been accepted on to a course or are on the waiting-list through the student NettiOpsu. Both those who have been accepted on to the course and those who are on the waiting-list should go to the first teaching session. If there are any free places, they will be given to those who are first on the waiting-list.
Course starting and finishing times
Courses begin at the times published in the teaching programme. One teaching hour is 45 minutes in length. The course finishing date generally means the last teaching session of the course, after which there may be a final examination and a possible retake. More information is available from the course teachers.
Completing the course
Teaching in the language and communication courses is normally given in small groups. As the teaching normally includes the active practicing of skills, it is important to be present in all the teaching sessions and to commit yourself to completing the course requirements as set out in the teaching programme. You cannot enrol on a course after it has begun, nor can you complete it after it has already finished.
More information can be found on the Language Centre website.
