The student will have a sound understanding of the concepts of crisis management, civilian crisis management, the new contexts relevant to research and the nature of crisis management in the public sector. The student will understand the types of crisis, consequences of crisis, relationships between military and civilian crisis management, the concepts and meaning of human security and human rights in crisis management. The implications of the EU security strategies and civilian crisis management missions, capacity building, democracy and the principles and strategies of counterterrorism will be examined too.
