Programme

1. lecture: Brief history of Hungarian Gypsies, their number according to Gypsy researches and censuses, the groups of the Romani people in Hungary

2. lecture: Watching and reflexion on a documetary (Romani Kris)

3. lecture: Gypsies in the communism (characteristics, initiatives)

4. lecture: Watching and reflexion on a documetary  (Cséplő Gyuri)

5. lecture: Gypsies from the change of regime (characteristics, measures and projects of the state, civil society and the churches)

6. lecture: Watching and reflexion on a documetary (Roma Picture- Gypsy Picture)

7. lecture: Culture of the Roma

About the essay:

Titles

1. The students should compare the situation of Finnish Gypsies with the situation of Hungarian ones. They can choose one topic, e.g. education, interest represantion, criminal issues, literature, music, traditional way of life, etc. or they can give a general picture.

2. They can make the above mentioned comparison with any other European country's Gypsies (and the Hungarian ones.)

3. They can write on Gypsy emmigration into Finland or the emmigration of Hungarian Gypsies to other countries.

  • Quotation of at least 10 texts.
  • Length: 20-25 000 characters
