Learning outcomes

After completing the course,
* Students will be able to approach organisations from different theoretical viewpoints.
* Students will be able to analyze organisational structures, and argue the suitability of structure with the strategy, tasks, and environmental challenges of a given organisation.
* Student understand the relevant issues and managerial challenges in organizational change dynamics.
* Students will be able to familiarize themselves with various theories and models for improving organisational structures and management.

General description

This course is an introduction to organizational management leadership, organizational change, and value network management leadership.

The focus of the course will be in

a) Organizational structures as managerial tools and frames of reference for purpose-oriented human collaboration, and

b) Organizational change dynamics approached from the managerial point of view

Contents:

  • Strategy, management, leadership, hierarchical coordination; classical themes of organizational management
  • Organizational change dynamics
  • Organisational Identity, learning and change
  • Management and leadership in virtual organizations and communities
  • Value configurations and Post-bureaucratic organization, management and coordination in networks
