The aim of the course is to provide insights of knowledge management (KM) in public sector and explore possibilities to link the KM approaches to the recent and ongoing research in administrative sciences. The emphasis is paid for linkages between research-based knowledge and KM for the purpose of facilitating more informed decision-making and contributing the intellectual capital for public sector organisations. Students will learn how to identify relevant research, review literature, apply theories and concepts in order to reflect them from the perspective of KM. After this course, the students are able to assess critically research process and research settings and stimulate the use of research-based knowledge into decision-making in the field of public administration and management.

The course consists of  an overview to approaches to KM and its benefits in public organisation, and case examples on research projects provided by visiting faculty, senior project researchers and PhD students working in the field of administrative sciences and management studies. Researchers will highlight the practical decisions, solutions and challenges related to different stages of their research and their research project potential to KM in public organisations. The students will write a paper in which they will reflect the lectures and the literature provided by the lecturers.
