Field of Medicine

Learning outcomes

A doctoral student must show that he/she has achieved profound knowledge on the field of study, on fields related to it and on general theory of science. Students should also demonstrate ability to apply the methods of scientific research independently and critically within the field of study in question and the ability to independently produce new information.

Content

Studies aiming for a doctoral degree will be completed in the faculty's research centers and groups. The doctoral degree consists of studies determined by a personal study plan (30 ECTS) as well as writing and publicly defending a doctoral dissertation (210 ECTS).

Additional information on preceding studies

Doctor of Medicine (MD): Admission to studies leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine can be granted to an applicant who has completed the Finnish degree of Licentiate in Medicine or a corresponding degree from a higher education institution abroad.
