At the end of the course, students will be able to show their understanding of the concepts and approaches in research strategy and methodology. They will know how to design their own research projects and how to choose suitable research methods to address respective research questions. Students will be able to develop, design and conduct relevant research projects as well as combine theoretical approaches to examine and explain complex leadership challenges of companies and public organisations. Moreover, students can collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams and make informed decisions on how to produce and apply research based information and knowledge both in theory and practice.
Contents
In addition to class room teaching, students will form peer groups where they together read and analyse central journal articles and other material prepared for the course. Students will acquire knowledge from previous literature regarding current and future leadership challenges in different fields of study (business, politics, administration). The course will be carried out in close collaboration with local companies and public organisations as well as with various research project at the School of Management (e.g. Academy of Finland or Tekes research projects). Students will develop their capabilities and know-how in multi-disciplinary research teams where they design and conduct their own research project.
