An introduction to qualitative research methods in health sciences.

Learning outcomes

Having passed the course the student is able
- to explain the basis of qualitative health research and the characteristics of qualitative research
process
- to formulate relevant research questions for qualitative research in public and global health
- to describe various data gathering methods and to differentiate why and when to use them for
different research objectives.
- to recognize the key analytical approaches and to implement the principles of thematic analysis to
empirical data
- to understand the principles of writing up a qualitative research and to evaluate qualitative studies
analytically
- to understand the principles of qualitative research ethics and the ethical review process
- identify the role of qualitative research in public and global health multidisciplinary contexts
