Master's Degree Programme in Bioinformatics

Learning outcomes

After the course, the student can:
- map the main components of bacterial and mammalian cells and describe their main functions
- recognize general structural features in biomolecules
- describe how genetic information is both maintained and evolving by the time
- explain how genetic information is transformed into cellular macromolecules and functions
- depict the role of energy flow and metabolism inside the cell
- describe the phases and basic mechanisms of cell division
- explain the principles how cells interact with their environment
- describe the basics of gene expression regulation
- list the main components in tissues and explain the principles how tissues are organized and maintained
- describe the general principles of certain key techniques in molecular biology
