The course unit is intended for students at the University of Tampere who act as tutors in their student organisations.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course unit, the student
? will understand the importance of peer support ? will know how to describe the central features of university studies ? will be familiar with the degree structure.
Contents
Student tutors act as peer supervisors for new students, helping them find their place as students and members of the student community.
Tutors participate in the training for tutors, where they learn about the role of a tutor and the guidance provided for students.
In addition to this, tutors will familiarise themselves with ? the curriculum, teaching schedule and studies website of their own degree programme ? other teaching offered by the university (including language studies).
Tutors take an active role in the systematic tutoring of students for the duration of at least one semester.

It is possible to get the credits of this course unit only once.
An approved completion of the course unit entitles the student to a certificate of tutoring, issued by the university.
