Osaamistavoitteet

After the course students will know the benefits, opportunities and challenges of Mixed Methods approach and can apply it in their own research.

Sisältö

Mixed methods research or multimethodology refers to a research tradition that combines the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. This course focuses on the concept, practice and promise of the mixed methods –approach, outlines reasons for using multiple datasets and the various research designs of mixed methods research, and the practices of writing-up and reporting. The benefits, opportunities and potential challenges of the mixed methods- approach are discussed. The course may also include discussion and feedback on students’ individual PhD-projects and on how the idea of methods mixing is conceptualized, put into action and realised in these.
