Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be familiar with the characteristics of translating in specialised subjects, the various text types, and the language used in specialised subjects. The student will be able to identify problems related to translation in specialised subjects and to find solutions to them. The student will be familiar with the methods of information searching relevant to translation in specialised subjects and will be able to use different translation tools in a critical manner.

Contents

The course unit explores the features, various translation situations, and text types of translating in specialised subjects. The course unit also provides information on scientific and popular-scientific texts, text analysis, and information searching, as well as on dictionaries and vocabularies of translation in specialised translation.
