General description

Laboratory course focusing on quantification of molecular interactions. The course includes laboratory exercises and lectures about the methods covered in the course.

Learning outcomes

After completing the laboratory course, the student:
-has knowledge and skills to study protein interactions using biophysical methods
-knows the basics of the theory behind molecular interactions and can apply this knowledge in research
-is capable of evaluating the measured data and reflecting the findings to previous studies

Contents

We utilize methods including optical biosensor, light scattering, fluorometry and calorimetry to quantify molecular interactions. Computational analysis method may be included as well. After passing the course, the student knows about theory behind molecular interactions and can apply this knowledge into questions relevant to biomedical research and development.
