General description

Optional course in Specialization in Education, Teaching and Learning Environment.

Learning outcomes

The student
- deepens her/his understanding of curriculum theory by discussing the national, cultural, historical and philosophical contexts of curricula and different curriculum traditions
- understands curriculum as an organisational and intellectual centrepiece of teaching
- can analyse and critically evaluate curriculum texts
- recognises the influences of curriculum traditions and policy flows on curriculum thought and practice

Contents

The course discusses the historical, theological, political, academic, and economic underpinnings of curriculum thought in Finnish and global contexts.
