Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is able to

-understand contemporary Russian society
-analyse different social institutions and social structures
-outline main social actors
-explain main components of social change

Contents

The successful completion of this course provides an introduction to the structure and institutions of today's Russian society. It focuses on the issues on social transformation, social inequalities, citizenship and everyday life. The course explores the contemporary social reality in Russia and introduces the key points of the Soviet society. Once completed, this course enables the students to continue with further review of these questions.

Possible topics include: Social structures and the transformations of the Russian society, processes of social inequality
