Upon completion of the course students are able to
• appreciate and critically analyze the historical contexts of Russian foreign policy
• identify main issues and actors in contemporary Russian foreign policy
• choose and critically apply different theoretical approaches in FPA to the study of Russian foreign policy
• present and critically evaluate competing interpretations on Russian foreign policy
• identify suitable research materials and undertake foreign policy analysis
• articulate informed judgments on Russian foreign policy and communicate them in a way relevant to public discourse
Contents
Concepts, theories and methods in Foreign Policy Analysis (FPA); elements of continuity and change in Russian (Soviet) foreign policy; current challenges and main driving forces in Russian foreign policy; the Russian foreign policy decision-making process, including its main actors and institutional parameters.
