After completing the course, students will have developed a good foundation for research work and they will know good scientific practice. Students will be able to formulate a research question, draw up a research plan, search for research literature and acquire research data. They can interpret and produce academic text, and collect, organise and analyse research data. In addition, students know how to present their research both verbally and in writing, to discuss research constructively and assess it using scientific arguments. Students will have a solid grasp of their degree (MA) as a whole and they are able to make plans for transferring to working life.
Contents
Students become familiar with their own research field, information search, the research process and its phases, good scientific practice, the principles of academic discussion and research reporting. Students draw up a research plan for their MA thesis and produce several versions of their thesis through process writing. They also act as peer supervisors for each other. The aim is to finish the MA thesis during the seminar. The seminar also includes HOPS councelling.
