Learning outcomes
The students has a good understanding of one or two classical texts of philosophy. S/he knows how to read classical texts whose style and method can be very different from contemporary philosophy. S/he recognises historical problems and methods. The understanding of classical problematics provides him/her a deeper understanding of systematical questions analysed in other sections.
Contents
The student either studies classical texts independently, eventually with the help of commentaries, or when possible in seminary groups. S/he writes an essay or passes a written exam of the text. The choice of the classic(s) and of the exam type must be confirmed by the teacher who is responsible of the section.

The student agrees with the teacher on the classic(s) to be studied and on the type of exam. Writing an essay is recommended, but a written exam is possible, too. The section can also be passed at lectures and seminars, when suitable ones are organised.
