General description

Human-technology interaction is a multi-disciplinary field. Consequently, the number of research methods and traditions that are present in the field is large. The goal of this book exam is to give an overview of the available research methods. This course works together with the course on experimental research. This course gives an overview of many methods. Experiments as evaluations of design and development work are central in HCI. However, it is important to appreciate the fact that they are not suitable for all research questions and to know what to do if an experiment cannot provide the answer.
