General description

The course is suitable for beginning doctoral students and late stage M.Sc. students. This course is highly recommended if the plan is to do experimental work in the M.Sc. thesis.

Learning outcomes

After the course the student:
- Knows basics of experimental research
- Can plan simple experiments and analyze the results using appropriate statistical tests
- Understands the requirements to comply research ethics
- Can create a structured report according to scientific tradition

Contents

The course will consist of lectures on basics of experimental research, research ethics, overview of basic statistical methods, and scientific reporting. These are practiced in group work. In addition students learn course literature, and need to take a written exam.
