General description
The purpose of the course is to raise the level of students’ skills in academic English so that they can participate actively in an international academic seminar.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course students are expected to:
-be aware of the typical conventions of academic seminars and texts;
-be able to understand the differences between statements based on facts, opinions and feelings;
-be able to participate actively in seminar in all the possible roles (defender, opponent, chair or group member);
-be able to construct a justified argumentation chain by expressing thoughts logically and presenting relevant evidence;
-be able to hold a seminar presentation;
-be able to write a presentation abstract;
Contents
Students will prepare and hold a seminar in their own field.
Teaching methods
Contact teaching and group work max. 26 hours, independent work 28 hours.
