The learning of the lecture course is to create an understanding of the perspectives on hybrid activity. Students are able to implement the conceptual framework of strategic management and performance management into the examination of hybrid activities and they will be able to identify aspects of hybridity in both government activity as well as in business endeavours.
Contents
Hybrids appear in many forms. They combine aspects of the pure species of private and public organisations. Hybrid organisations have existed throughout history, but it is too simplistic to see hybridity only as one type of organisation. Instead, one can see hybrids at micro, meso and macro levels of societal activity consisting of networks between business firms, public agencies and other organisations. By their nature, hybrids are well equipped to satisfy business aims and public policy goals simultaneously.
