DPCMTJ2 Theoretical and methodological studies 10 ECTS
Organised by
Doctoral Programme of Communication, Media and Theatre

Learning outcomes

After completing the course unit, the students have a broad-based, multidisciplinary knowledge of the theoretical and methodological discussion related to communications, media, music and theatre research. They have formed an opinion on the nature and social relevance of the discipline and the significance of research to this process.

Contents

The theoretical and methodological studies can be completed e.g. with examinations, essays, reading circles or courses by the Doctoral School of the University of Tampere or the University of Arts Helsinki's artistic research courses. They may include studies in the philosophy of science and arts, or they can be completed with scientific articles not included in the dissertation. Other completion methods, such as teaching one's own research topic or lecture passports are also possible. The completion of theoretical and methodological studies is agreed upon with the supervisor.
