Contents
Running business in Russia is challenging for Western companies. Establishing a business requires the recruitment of right people, a mindset attuned to the Russian environment, and a readiness to react to the turbulence of the markets ? both labour markets and product markets. Management style in Russia is in transition from ?Management Sovieticus? to a more Western management style, which means that the organization of work and work-related values are in flux. Companies thus need to carefully plan business strategy and human resource management at a Russian subsidiary. External and internal environments must also be taken into account. This course familiarizes the students with the business environment and labour market in Russia and provides them with basic information on business and personnel strategy planning in the Russian context.
The course covers topics such as: the Russian business environment and labour market, ?management Sovieticus?, corporate culture, planning and establishing a subsidiary, corporate and labour legislation, staffing and organizing HRM, HRM transfer, commanding and controlling.
