Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be able to produce a literary translation of publishing quality. The student will have a thorough understanding of the special characteristics of the translation of one or several literary text genres (such as short stories or poetry) and will be able to apply translation theory to the practical challenges of translation. Furthermore, the student will be able to independently assess and comment on existing literary translations.

Contents

During the course unit, the student will independently produce a literary translation of publishing quality, write a commentary on the translation process, and comment on translations.
The course unit will be carried out in multilingual groups. In addition to the group meetings, each student will receive guidance and personal feedback on their translation from a teacher of their B working language.
