Learning outcomes

A student
-understands that the prevailing educational thinking and the current conceptions of education are related to the philosophical traditions
-understands that the prevailing conceptions of education, educational practices and educational institutions have their roots in history
-knows the main traditions and their philosophical and historical foundations in the Western educational thinking

Contents

-the main traditions in the Finnish and Western educational thinking and their meaning for the construction of the contemporary education and educational institutions
-the societal changes and ideologies in educational thinking and history of education
