After completing the course unit, the students have a basic knowledge of the historical formation of the Finnish energy policy, the changing governmental regulation of the energy policy as well as power wielding and the role of the citizenry in energy policy. The student is acquainted with the decision-making processes and interaction networks of energy policy and the actors influencing them, such as the European Union, political decision-makers, authorities, research institutes, firms and NGOs. The course unit focuses especially on nuclear power which has played pivotal role in the Finnish energy policy debate.
