VENS7 Verbal Aspect Theory 5 ECTS

Learning outcomes

Students are well-acquainted with verbal aspect theory and are able to apply their knowledge in practice.

Contents

The main theoretical concepts in verbal aspect theory, the formation of aspect pairs, the relation of aspect to time and modality, the use of aspects in different situations, and the verbs belonging to lexical aspects (Aktionsart). The morphological and semantic features of unprefixed motion verbs and of word formation. Prefixed aspect pairs and their meanings as well as the lexical aspects of prefixed motion verbs.
