Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be able to explain the main features of technical documentation and their points of convergence with translating and translation studies. They will be able to name the main criteria for high-quality technical documentation and to explain the conventions and differences in technical documentation in different cultures. The student will be aware of different methods of target group analysis and able to describe the legislation related to technical communication.
Contents
The course unit explores the main principles of technical documentation and factors impacting its quality, methods of target group analysis, and relevant legislation. During the course unit, the student will complete assignments on analysing and producing texts, focusing on technical documentation.
