Gender is intertwined with sociological, biological, and cultural constructs. This course looks at gender issues from a human rights perspective. The major issues of demography, sexuality and use of force related to genders are investigated.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, the students - are able to apply human rights approach to gender issues - can recognize the major issues of demography, sexuality and use of force related to genders - know how to analyze social determinants of gender and wellbeing (e.g. poverty and education) - are aware of various issues and contexts in which culture links to gender - understand the main determinants and global epidemiology of women´s health - have the ability to analyze practices to enhance gender-related wellbeing
Contents
During this course students analyse the social determinants of wellbeing, such as poverty and education, in both genders. The bigger picture of global epidemiology in women´s health - reproduction, maternal health, gender-specific health issues - will also be drawn. Overall, the course aims to deepen the students? awareness of the main issues and contexts in which culture and gender are linked.
