Learning outcomes

*Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will have a thorough understanding of the business translation field, as well as of its characteristics and methods. The student will be able to translate business texts from Finnish into English and justify their translation solutions. The student will also have an understanding of the role that the terms and set phrases of business language and text genre conventions play in business translation. Furthermore, the student will be able to search for terms and phrases and assess their suitability in a particular context.

Contents

The course unit explores the central text genres of business translation, communicative situations, and operators and sources of information. In addition, the course unit covers the specific characteristics of business language and includes analysing business texts, as well as translating and justifying translation solutions.
